Daily Post Award 2015
During National Chip Week (February 16-20 2015) hundreds of people contacted the Daily Post on Facebook, Twitter and through our website to nominate the best chippy in North Wales.

Will Huntley, who has run The Mermaid with his wife Nina for 25 years, said: “The news that we have won is fantastic. In the competition last year we came second.”

He added: “I’d like to thank the Daily Post. It’s good for this area. We’ve got no industry here to support us so we are reliant on tourists. It’s so beautiful here with the Mawddach Estuary. I am passionate about this town.”

One of the people who nominated The Mermaid, Helen Atkins, said: “It just is the best fish and chips anywhere! Holidaymakers and locals alike know this is the plaice to go - oops sorry place.”

While Daniel Griffith said: “Excellent food, excellent staff! Consistently busy and the best tasting fish for miles.” Congratulations Will and Nina!

Our Support
We are proud to sponsor Barmouth & Dyffryn United Football Club through generous and regular donations.

The Club was formed in 1863, making it older than all of the Premier League Clubs today, and only 6 years younger that the oldest FIFA recognised club Sheffield FC.

Will Huntley is the current Chairman and has rejuvinated, improved, and developed the club in ways previously only dreamt of.

These improvements are constantly being made with new additions such as floodlights and extra seating, making it the envy of most visiting teams.

Please go and see them play, or visit their Website for more information.
